PAEROA RUGBY UNION.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The. regular meeting o c the management committee of the Paeroa Rugby Union was held on Monday night, the chairman (Mr W. P Pennell) prodding. There were 'a,lso present Messrs J. H. Walmsley, E. Shaw, K. L. Slyfield, W. Morrison, J. Wilson, T P. Vuglar, J. Rackham, T. C. Arnold (Referee's Association), and J. MCrosby (secretary). PLAYER RE-INSTATED.

The N.Z. Rugby Union a,dvised that R. Radford, an ex-league code player, had bee;n re-instated as a rugby player, and his registration as a senior player in the East club had been approved.

JUNIOR SELECTOR. The junior selector, Mr T. M. Wilkinson, advised that owing to his temporary absence from Paeroa, he was reluctantly forced .to resign the position as junior selector. The secretary intimated .that Mr Wilkinson Would only be absent for a couple of Saturdays." On the. motion of the; chairman, it was resolved that Mr Shaw be a P _ pointed assistant selector. EAST SENIOR TEAM.

The East club wrote in reply to the union advising that it had been decided to endeavour to keep a senior in the competition.

Application was made to play an unofficial match on Thursday, king’s Birthday, and for permission to. take up a collection to defray expenses. The application wa,s granted. It was also resolved that if the; club did not put a 'full senior team on the field on Saturday next, the club would forfeit its right to take part any further in the union’s competition.

REGISTRATIONS. The following registrations were approved and allotted as follows. J, Johnson, East juniors; W. Whelan, West seniors; J. Karu, West juniors. REPRESENTATIVE JERSEYS.

It was decided that eighteen woollen jerseys for representative players be purchased, and that, the colour of green.be retained.

PLAYING AREAS. Mr Shaw pointed out that it was necessary to put in a further six posts to carry the wire on the, sideline.

Mr Morrison suggested that a stouter wire should be put up, and that, the Domain Boa.rd should be approached and asked 'for a loan of the wire that was on the bottom fence round the trees.

The chaiiman and Messrs Slyfleld and Shaw were appointed to- attend to. the improvements referred to.

VISITING TEAMS. The managers of the senior team (Mr W. Pennell) and junior team (Mr E. Shaw) reported that both teams had been entertained on Saturday, and everything had passed off successfully. Mr J. W. Danby, on behalf of the Thames Union, had extended the thanks of his union to the Paeroa Union, and congratulated it on the completeness' of the arrangements and for the hospitality accorded the visitors.

THIRD GRADE TEAM. Mr Shaw reported that he had experienced trouble and insolence from members of the locaj school thirdgrade team on Saturday. Although there was no match arranged for the third-grade, team, the, boys had taken charge of the dressing-shed and had given a lot of “che,ek” when asked to leave.

The secretary supported the remarks of Mr Shaw, and said tha.t Mr Preston had notified him earlier in the week that the team did not, desire to play on the Saturday. Therefore they had no right in the shed. Players had also been guilty of getting through a window of thq dress-ing-shed and taking flags.

It was resolved to write to the headmaster requesting him to take option to prevent a repetition of the behaviour the boys. THAMES VALLEY REPORT.

A lengthy discussion ensued about a, report appearing in the "Gazette” concerning the Thames Valley Rugby Union’s last meeting at Paeroa, and the actions of ,the Thames Union relative to the Peace; and Birch cup competitions, and the hospitality extended to visiting teams by the Thames Union. It was generally agreed that the repor was not quite correct, and that the Tha,mes Valley Union had forwarded an explanatory letter to the Thames Union. The “Gazette” would also be aske;d to publish the letter and contradict the statements referred to.

FINANCE. The Paeroa. gate receipts for Saturday last weres reported to total £2B 4s 6d. A donation of £.l Is had also been received from Mr H. Poland. Accounts totalling £5 6s 6d were passed for payment. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY. The following fixtures for Saturday next were approved : — Seniors. —West v. Netherton, at Paeroa ; East v. Suburbs, at Paeroa. Juniors. —West v. East, at Paeroa; Netherton v. Karangahake, at Netherton ; Suburbs a bye. Third Grade. —Paeroa A v. Paeroa B. This game is being played to enable. representatives to be selected to play Plakb at Paeroa on June 12. Schoolboys.—Paeroa A 1 v. Karangahake, at Mackaytown, 8.45 a.m.; Pae;roa B v. Hikutaia, at Paeroa, 11.15 a.m.
