REQUEST FOR SIDING.
SETTLERS AT ROTOKOHU. MATTER TO BE' INQUIRED INTO. A petition signed by eleven settlers in the Itotokohu area, was presented to the Prime Minister by Mr W. F. Johnstone at Paeroa on Thursday. Mr Johnstone explained that with the removal; of the Paeroa railway station to its present site the settlers were forced to cart their goods nearly tiiree miles. An earnest request was made for the provision of a: siding to the Paeroa-Waihi line a ( t a point near where the line crossed the Old Te Aroha Road. The ground in that locality was level, and there was plenty of room to permit of a siding being put in. A shed was not asked for, as 1 the farmers wmild take delivery of manure, coal, apd other goods on arrival. The siding was warranted, a,nd railage on manure alone, last year totalled over £5O. In reply the Prime Minister said that if a goodshed was not necessary and the locality was suitable for a siding he thought the; request was a reasonable one. He would ha've the matter looked into at once, and see wha.t could be done.
