WAITAKAKUBU. FARMERS’ UNION. Shortly 1 before the 'last general; election an' organiser Wr - the NewZealand Farmers;’ Union spent several weeks on the Hauraki Plains ca.nvassing for members a,nd explaining the attitude of the union • towards politics. At Waitakaruru some 30-odd members were enrolled, a.hd recently these settlers decided to. reorganise the active branch of the uniota that previously existed in the district, and to the credit of which some* £3O was lying in the bakn. A meeting was held recently, and Mr C. W. Harris was appointed president’ and Mr N, Hedges secretary. A donation of £lO wa.s made towards the cost of repairing the wharf shed, and a similar sum was voted for improvements on the local domain. ‘
