CENSUS RETURNS.
POPULATION OF lIA URAKI PLAINS SLIGHT INCREASE SHO)VN. The censjus returns of the population‘of the whole 6f, the Haura.ki Plains County have now been comt pleted by the local enumerator (Mr LW. E. Ward). The completed returns t show an increase in total population ot 292 persons, comprising 184 males and 108 . females. The Maori population has decreased by 67. Following are the figures,' with the returns for April, 1921, given in parentheses: Males, 2068 (1984) ; „ females, 1484' (1376) ; total peisons, * 3552 ' (3360).x The Maori population f is given as ; Males, 194 (230), females,' I'so (192), total 344 .(411). WAIHI BOROUGH. : The latest census returns for Waihi Borough show a decrease in the .total population of 218 persons; There aye more females than males in the borough. Following are the figures: Males, 1835 (1989), females 1882 (1968). Maoris, 14 males and 8 females- Total population, 3739 (3957).
