PRIME MINISTER’S VISIT.
POST OFFICE OPENING THURSDAY MINISTER OF LANDS "WITH PARTY The following telegram w,as received by this office from Mr A. M. Samuel, «M.P., on Saturday morning: “The Prime Minister (Hon. J. G. Coates) is opening the new pos.t office, Paeroa, on Thursday, May 27. Will arrive Paeroa, 10.30 a.m. train, and will receive deputations in the forenoon. The opening ceremony will take place at 2.30 p.m., and. he will leave Paeroa by train at 5.34 p.m. The Prime Minister will be a'ccompanied by the Minister of. Lands.” ARRANGEMENTS FOR THURSDAY. The. Paeroa Borough Council held a special meeting on Saturday night, and, as: the result of its deliberations, the following arrangements have been made :— On arrival of the Prime Minister and the Hon. Minister of Lands the party will proceed to .the Borough . Council Chambers, where several deputations will be received. At. 1 pan. the Ministerial party will be tendered an official luricheon at the Criterion Hotel by the Paeroa Borough Council, and the Ohinemuri County Council. On arrival of the party at'the new Post Office at 2.30 p.m. the National Anthem will be played, after which an address and welcome will, be accorded the Prime Minister by His Worship the Mayor (Mr IW. Marshall). The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, P.C., M,C„ will then address the gathering, followed by the Hon. A. D. McLeod, Minister of Lands. A presentation of a gold key from the contractors (Messrs Robinson and Beagley) to .the Prime Minister will then be made and the post office declared officially open by Mr Coates, i After the ceremony afternoon tea will be served .at the Soldiers’ Club .to guests and visitors. . The band of the Hauraki- Regiment will be in attendance, and .will render a suitable programme of music, commencing at 2.15 p.m. There will also be a parade of . the loc.al .troop of Girl Guides .and Boy Scouts; and .pupils of the Paerqa District. High School. The Ministerial party will leave Paeroa for Frankton by the 5.30 p.m. train. ■
The general public are requested to arrange for deputations to the Prime Minister erther through the Mayor of Paeroa or the chairman of the Ohinemuri County Council (Mr W. F. Johnstone).
