MOTOR SPEEDING.
CHECKING OFFENCES. SECOND POLICEMAN DESIRED. At the Paeroa Borough Council meeting on Thursday last a letter was; read from the Police Department stating that it was exercising vigilenee in the matter of checking speeding motorists within the borough, and requesting councillors; to supply particulars of rs:uch offences that came under their notice, when action would be taken. The Mayor suggested that the letter, together with the council’s letter to the local constable, be forwarded to the district inspector, with a request that a second constable be appointed at Paeroa, especially in view of the return of licenses. Cr. Flatt seconded, and pointed out that the wprk was increasing in the borough, and it wag reasonable to ask for an additional man.
