KEBEPEEin. CHILDREN’S BALL. Out Of it£: wide experience, of parents a*ndp children the Kerepeehi branch of* the’ Plunkat Society has, learned that the surest appeal, to parents. is through their, children. Thus it was that when a. function to raise funds for.the branch was contemplated it was decided that it take the form of a children’s fancy dress bajl. The 'function was held in the Hall on Friday last, and the attendance was very large. An excellent effect greeted the spectator on entering the hall. A myriad of costumes signifying many lands and people, a tastefully deporated hall, f,nd a multitude of exquisite dances presented an ever-changing panorama of beauty. The children entered into the spirit of carnival with enthusiasm. The. sudden failure i of the electric light caused an early cessation of festivities, and candles were requiisitioned to provide sufficient glow for several twilight dances. The prizes 'for the bes[t fancy costumes were awarded to Miss J. Shilton, powder-puff; Miss L. Hudson, Victorian; Master O’Lpughlin, bandsman ; while Master D. Devereaux was awarded the prize for the most original costume. The waltzing competition for children .was won by Miss M. Courtney and Miss B. Barrible. -» Among the others in costume were Misses E.
