BUGLE BAND.

BOY SCOUTS’ EFFORT. ' GOOD PROGRESS MADE. For some time past the local troOp of Boy Scouts has been working assiduously towards. raising sufficient funds to purchase, bugles, 'for the purpose of forming a boysi’ bugle band. So far the effort hasi resulted in-the acquisition of five buglets’, two' sidedrums, a bass drum, a set of cymbals, and a triangle. ' Mr T. Bell, who was, .trumpetermajor in the First Australian Light Horse, and the winner of the Duke ofc Connaught’s silver bugle in London, has. interested himself in the local scouts, and has undertaken to form the band and teach the boysi to play. It is understood that very satisfactory progress is being made, the boys proving themselves apt pupils and keen to become, proficient.' The scoutmaster, Mr D. A. .Vincent, is enthusiastic about the. matter, arid is. doing all he can to fester and encourage, the movement. Obviously, with such a large troop it is not possible to utilise ,al,l the musical talent, offering, so Messrs C. Waines, G. Royal, apd P. Brennan have taken 21 boys in hand and have formed a fife band. Regular practices are being held, and, again, good progregs, is being made.
