REPORT OF COMMITTEE. FOOTBALL AND HOCKEY- GROUNDS The. reports were submitted and. approved pt' by the Paeroa Domain Board at its meeiting last! Thursday evening:— DOMAIN COMMITTEE REPORT. “Reference Playing Field in Domain : Your committee beg to report that since last meeting we have met representatives of the Rugby Union and Hockey Club. We suggest that the Hockey Club be allotted one playing field and the Rugby Uniop two. “We have placed the hockey ground as near ajs: possible to .the ladies’ rest room and croquet pavilion. This 1 is with the idea of providing the lady hockey players, with a dressing room. “The football field! will be approximately on the sama portion of the domain as in past seasons. “We might say tha,t the representatives- from both clubs concerned a,re satisfied with .the fields recommended by the committee, and appreciate the fact that the Domain Bdard is doing ail that,; Is: possible to meet .the requirements, of the various winter sporis clubs. “We suggest that a small gate be erected for lady hockey players to go from the proposed field .to their dressing room, if finances will allow. We consider tha,t the pipe fence, between the sports field and the other portion of the domain should be completed as soon as possible. Tenders for the erectin of a men’s convenience have been received, and that of Mr W. Cnamberlain’s at £B5 has been accepted.” SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT. The domain superintendent reported for .the year ended March 31, 1926, as follows.: — “Since my last report my time has been majnly occupied in the general •upkeep a.nd preparation pf the greens,, which, during the last three months of the season, have seen a good deal ot play, and consequently require greater attention. As mentioned in my last report, I, have completed the cutting of a little over half of the, 1 hedges as time permitted. Now that the greens are about to be closed I will be able to complete the clipping and general cleaning up of the hedges. “Bowling Green : I think that the bowling green can go another year without tqp-dressjng, and this will mean the saving of a good deal dfl expense. I would, like your permission to order the necessary lime, manure, and seed. • “As the football season has, now commenced I would like to suggest that the- new latrines be started as soon as possible.”. A detailed return showed that '543% working hours were spent on the bowling green, 236% on the; croquet lawn, 24 on the itenniisi .courts', and 1457 % on general work during the year. Club fees received for the year totalled £l2B 10s; 6d, as against £ll6 7s 6d last year. The night play bowling green account showed that the debit balance at April 1 last ypar was £36 Ils 7d, and the lighting account was.£3 Is Bd. The receipts’ for the year totalled £7 7s, leving a debit balance a tMarch 31, 1926, of £32 6s 3d.
