FIRE BRIGADE.

REPORT OF FIRE COUNCIL. MOTOR REEL PURCHASED. The. following report of the Fire Council for the period ended March 31J, 1926, was submitted to .the monthly meeting df the . Paeroa Borugh Council; last week :— “Referring to the balance-sheet, you will notice that the maintenance; fund shows a debit of. £Bl 13s 3d and the motor reel, fund a credit of £304 15s 4d, leaving a bank credit of £223 2s Id. “Arrangements, have now been completed to procure a complete fire; motor reel, with accessories, a, new filebell tower, and complete up-to-date equipment for the brigade. This;, as the attached schedule will show, will necessitate a'further su,m of £l7O, which it is estimated should put the brigade on a first-class footing for some time .to come, and we would your council for this sum to be placed on the estimates; for the ensuing year, and if this its: done we should be able, with the assistance of public subscriptions towards upkeep during the next six months, to carry on without any further demands, on your council 'for the financial year ending March 31, 1927. “We would point out that with the new station, telephone, arrangements* and sleeping quarters our pla.nt will more than hold its own and compare more than favourably with, that provided in adjacent towns; and it should be pleasing to your council and the townspeople generally to know that a reduction in fire premiums in the area reticulated with 4in mains should shortly take place. “Your attention, is again drawn to a resolution on your file “that no person should be allowed to remove any equipment except-by permission of tile man in charge.” In the interests of the -efficient working of the brigade we would suggest that this be done. “The. brigade under Captain Moore is well up to date, aipd the- activities and interest displayed by .the members, speak well, for .their section of the organisation- We can assure your council that i'f you give effect to these proposals you will have a, plant and brigade well in tune with the progress of the town.”
