e TURUA. BREA.CHES OF BYLAWS. Last month the Turua Town Board discussed the increasing number of cyclists; who rode at night without lights snd who rode their bicycles on the footpaths, and the. board decided to communicate-with the police on the matter. WAITAKABUBU. PROPOSED DRAINAGE DISTRICT. A proposal is afoot in Waitalraruru to have the area north of Strieam Road and westward of .the New Brighton road to the hills* constituted a drainage; district under the Lands Drainage Act. The land is outside the Government drained area, .and is capable of being much improved and cut up into small holdings. At >the present time it is carrying a small number of dairy cattle, but with efficient drainage it could bei ma.de highly productive. It is understood that the scheme mooted is to have, a* big drain constructed near the road to provide an outlet to .the sea. NGATEA. LADIES’ HOCKEY. The Ngatea Ladies’ Hockey Club promises to be able to put a strong team in the field this winter. The membership is la.rge, and great keenness is shown. The annual meeting was held last week, there being an attendance of 18. Mrs Bertelsen was appointed president, Mrs Hayward chairwoman of committee, and Miss Birkenhead secretary.
