GOLF.

OPENING OF PAEROA CLUB. The formal opening of the Paeroa Golf Club took place on Saturday afternoon. Ideal' yeather prevailed, and there was 'a good attendance of members and visitors. In a few wellehosen remarks the president (Dr. T. G. Smith) welcomed the visitors, and expressed' the hope that the club would enjoy a prosperous, and successful season. After Mrs Smith had driven a ball from the first tee the links were declared open for the season amidst applause. The players then took part in a singles competition, 12 holes, the winners of which .were Miss F. Walmsr ley (ladies) and R. L. Miller (men).

A dainty afternoon tea was dispens ed by the ladies of the club.
