“Riders, of the Purple Sage,” which is to be shown to-night, is up to the high standard which might be expected of a combination of Tom Mix, Zane Grey, and William Fox. Mix does some excellent acting ms 1 the softspoken. two-gun/hero. Tony carries, his master through perilous situations and aids him with his h'oi*s|e sense. THURSDAY NIGHT. THE FIGHTING CUB. Romance and thrills aboundln “The Fighting Cub,” Phil Goldstpnp’s melodra.ma of newspaper life, which is to be shown to-morrow night. The picture -is one that provides, a wealth of excitement, with the story woven around the exploits o*f a dashing young reporter who discovers .and captures a band of geni thieves after the latter had eluded the police, for many month si. The youth is materially aided by the city editor, (if the paper, and the two battle every obstacle placed in their path, and finally secured a scoop for the paper.

A.picture thousands have, been anxiously waiting to see its' scheduled to be presented on Saturday night. It is the screen version of “Chickie/’ Elenore Meherin’s sensational newspaper serial novel. A poor girl who is bqrely making a living as a typiste has ambitions to marry a millionaire. She meets him. She goes, to his home to dine. She mixes with the wealthy men .and their feminine playthings at their week-end parties. THE LAST HOUR. This picture, also to be screened on Saturday night, deals, with the question of whether capital punishment has been effective as a deterrent to crime, or whether the world would not be better served by a, system, of preventive detention as opposed to taking life.
