HAURAKI PLAINS COUNTY
SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING.
BOUNDARIES. OF RIDINGS
A special meeting df the Hauraju Plains County Council was held on Monday, Cr. J. C. Miller presiding over a full council.
' The primary object, of the meeting was I to confirm the special orders altering the boundaries o!f the Turua, Kopuarahi, Patetonga, and Ngatea ridings;
Cr. Madgwick suggested that the boundaiies of the Tirrua riding be altered to exclude all that portion not having bitumen-sealed roads. The area he suggested having cut out of the riding was about 1000 acres. This would be transferred to the Kerepeehi riding. There would be little variation in the valuation of the Turn,a riding, as it had recently taken in part o’f the Kopuarahi riding which had bitumen-bound roads. The object of .the alteration wasi to make the Turua riding only,that area with bitumen -so that there would be no need 'to strike a road maintenance rate.
Cr. .J H. Nicholson supported taking the area into the Kere.peehi riding. He had considered the matter some time, ago, but at that time it was thought a special rating area would be created in the near future for a bitumen road loan.
On Cr. Madgwick’s motion, seconded by Cr. Nicholson, it was decided that it be a recommendation to the new council that the alteration be .effected.
