STRANGE STORY.
CORPSE IN LOCKED HOUSE.
GUARDED BY INSANE WOMEN.
Very strange evidence vyas. heard a,t the inquest on Mrs Nixon,, aged 80, whose body; guarded by three; insane daughters’, ..was. afound? m a locked, house at Nantwich, Cheshire.
Neighbours attested io nois<eis which siuggested; that the ■ -daughters were screaming and quarrelling. A constable gave evidence‘that-.one of .the idaughters declared that her mother was not dead .but that God;was looking after her. Another said : “She was never'ill ; God took.e|ier and told us, to leave her alone;” r
A doctor gave it as his- opinion that the woman, probably died in the chair near to which >the corpse) was found fetched with a belt- The daughters were r convinced that ■; their .youngest: sister was ai prophetess, and heard •God’s voice. The others obeyed her implicitly. The youngest .told him that a bird whittling in a tree was God’s; way. of telling her what ( to do. The witness: found all three ..claugh,te.fs in a 'completely ecstatic condition. ' . ~ ... :
A verdict was returned that there was insufficient ei ridence to show the cause ot death.
