TURUA. FOOTBALL CONCERT. The Turua Football Club held a 'Smoke concert in ’’the Victoria Hall on Monday evening for the purpose of honouring and making a presentation to Mr A. McConnell, secretary during the past seas/m. Mr F. Stevens, president of the club, presided: over an attendance of about 50' members and supporters. The presentation, which, took the form of a silver-mounted cigarette holder ip a case suitably engraved, was made by Mr who referred to the success that had attended the club during Mr McConniell’s term as secretary., i
A number of toasts were proposed and duly honoured.. Songs were contributed by Messrs A'. H. Sutton, G. Schofield, C. Pearce, J. Griffiths, L. McCoid, W. Kidd and G. H. Carter, and VV. Hooper; step-dances by Mr W. Burnett and Mr A.: Charteris, and musical items by Messrs P. O’Brien, W. Strong, J. Clayton, and J. Robb.
