KEREPEEHI*
STREET LIGHTS. Matters in connection with the payment of the Kerepeehi street lights were - explained at a meeting of residents last week. The cash in hand amounted to £6 Is 3d, wihereas there were liabilities due very shortly’of £7 0s 3d. It was decided that subscription lists be circulated. A committee was appointed to organise a, concert for the fund in June. ; The secretary was instructed to. again write to Cr. J. H. Nicholson pointing out the low state of the fund and asking him:’to get the county council toitake over two of the existing lights, seeing that so far it had not/had other lightz erected, as was decided. SPORTS MEETING. Arrangements in connection with the Hauraki Plains A. and P. Association’s sports- meeting on Easter Monday were advanced a stage further at a meeting in the hall on Tuesday las'!. Mr Hoff presided over Messrs S. Laving, W. Kidd, W. Shilton, J. Murdock, C. Pearce, and W. Booth (secretary). ■ It was, decided to wirte to Mr A. M. Samuel ,M.P., asking him to make the presentation of trophies - . Arrangements, were made for working bees on the ‘show-ground, and minor officials were appointed. The committee decided to run the refreshment booth. The secretary was instructed to endeavour to secure a band for the day and music for the danee. ROADING SCHEME. Settlers of Kerepeehi township propose asking the County to take a. poll of ratepayers of the townarea on a proposal to raise a loan for the metalling of all the streets. A meeting will be held on Monday next to discuss the matter. . PATETONGA. - . HARVEST FESTIVAL. The harvest festival and thanksgiving service in, connection with the Church'of England was held in the public hall on March 4. The hall was tastefully decorated'by the ladies of the church under Mr Boatswain’s direction with fruit, flowers, vegetables and all farm produce. In the evening a social- was - held and all goods unsold were auctioned. The net prdceeds amounted to £22. Songs were contributed by Rev. W< Averill (vicar) and Messrs. Wallace and Pike, Miss ’ Priestly playing the accompaniments. At intervals dance music was supplied by Mw. H. Taylor and Misses, Hunter and Wallace. The prize-winners of the competitions were as follows —Nail driving: g Ladies, Mrs H. Taylor; men, Mr R. ' Nelson. Ring the Bull: Ladies, Miss Garry ; men, Mr- W. Pearson; girls, Doris Pulman: boys. Maurice Mayn.
