DOMAIN BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING.

ROUTINE BUSINESS.

A short , meeting of .the Paeroa Domain Board was held on Thursday night, the chairman (Mr W. Marshall) presiding over ,the following: Meteors P. E. Brenan, E. Edw.ards, J. W. Silcock, H. J. Hare, E. A. Porritti, G. P. de Castro, J. Pinder, and the secretary (Mr W, C. Alexander J. HOCKEY GROUND.

The Paeroa ; Ladies,’ Hockey Club referred to its application dated June 6 last for the use of an area in the domain, and asked if the application could be granted. ' . Mr Silcock said that the domain provided room, a.nd could accommodate a hockey field, but, he suggested that the Rawhiti reserve might) be granted to the club. H? thought the reserve would be more s|uitable from a gate point of view, as he did not see how the club could arrange' about a gate if the game was played in the domain. z

Mr Edwards suggested that the. hockey club be granted the use of the reserve at a nominal rental. . Mr Silcock thought a hockey ground could be made nearer to the croquet lawn in the domain. It was resolved to inform the club that provision would be made for a ground, and that tt decision as to its location would be given after the April meeting. Also that representatives from' the sports bodies, be invited to meet the Domain Committee and discuss: probable locations for football and hockey fields. SQCCER MATCH. The Goldfields Soccer 1 Football Association made application for the use of the domain and permission to make a charge for admission on a d'ate in 'Aprjil. • On the motion of Mr Brenan it was resolved to grant the use of the domain free of charge. Tn moving the reslution Mr Brena ; n said that he considered the board should do all it could to foster and. encourage all branches of outdoor sport- Without establishing a precedent, he thought a charge for the ground: should not be insisted upon, as it was desirable to assist the association, which had recently selected Pajeroa Ifor its headquarters.

The motion was seconded by the chairman and carried.
