MOTOR BUSES COLLIDE.
MEET IN KARANGAHAKE GORGE.
As Messrs, Short Bros? motor lorry, laden with passengers, returning from the Methodist'Chuch picnic at Waihi Beach, was negotiating the Karangahake Gorge on Saturday evening, an unusual accident occurred.
It appears that the bus was. stationary on the side of the road, which is very narrow 'at that particular point, when Messrs Bonnici and Phillips’ large motor-bus swung round the corner, on its return journey 'rom Paeroa. In passing the stationary bus, the driver of the Waihi vehicle pulled on to the. centre of the road too quickly, with the result that his vehicle caught the lorry and ripped the hood off. The hood, which wa.s attached to the b.ack seat, gave w ! ay with a resounding crash and dragged the seat with it, Asl a consequence the occupants of the seat were thrown on to the roadway, .and the /Other occupants received a' severe bright and shaking. Included in those injured were Mr J. Rickard, cuts and bruises ; Master Wight, slight concussion; and Max. Butler, cuts and bruises. The Waihi bus was practically undamaged, as also was the Paeroa bus, with the exception of the overhead Covering. Both vehicles were able to proceed on their Way after the accident . \
