AVERAGES IN PLAINS GROUPS. INTERESTING COMPARISONS. Some interesting comparisons can be made From the January figures of the N.Z. Co-operative Herd Testing Association. / The highest herd ’ average in .the association’s territory . was 47.491 b, while the figures for the five Plains groups were : Netherton ’ 33.2, -Ngatea (and Waihi) 35.48, Shelly Beach 38-89, Turua 40.78, and Waitakaruru 4'3.05. The production of the lowest herds in the Plains groups was greater than the majority of .the rest Of the herds tejsted, while the highest individual cow in the Ngatea .and Waihi gloup was only one-third of a pound below the highest producing cow tested in the whole of the association’s territory. Incidentally this cow is at Tahuna. ! The highest testing cows in the Plains groups were: NethertQn, 61.92; Ngatea and Waihi, 77.14 ; Shelly .Beach, 68.40 ; Turua, 65.88 ; and Waitakarui'u, 68.85. Thesje were well above the average 'for the other groups. * The Turua group has the distinction of having ,the highes.t worst cow tested in all the groups, the quantity being 13.05, while the lowest cows in the' Ngatea group gave 4.81 b, NetheTton 6.241 b, Shelly Beach' 8.371 b, and Waitakaruru 9.61 b.
