THAMES VALLEY BOARD.

MANAGER’S REPORT.

At the Thames Valley Electric Power Board’s meeting on Tuesday the manager’s (Mr R. Sprague) report for the month was re,ad as follows :—

“Loan of £lso,ooo.—The date of the poll for the loan of £1’50,000 will be May 12. This is the date 'for the election of councillors for county councils, and I am arranging to use .the same booths, as the local bodies will be operating, which should assist the ratepayers. “Broken Wire—A broken wire fell over the property of. Mr F. Walters, Springdale, during the month, destroying five cows. Mr McLeod has dealt with this, in his report.

“Supplies.—Ample supplies of wire, etc., are now to hand, and the 'erection work is now up to schedule. “Trees.—Owners of trees endangering the board’s lines have been again notified to remove same, and where the owner does not comply with the request the board’s employees are doing the work. ■ “Consumers.—The total number of consumers connected to the board’s mains, on February 28, 1926 was 5452, which includes the boroughs of To Aroha and Thames. During the month 22 lighting and heating consumers, 20‘ water-heaters, 7 electric ranges, together with 18 motors on farms; of which 13 were 2 h.p. milling, were also connected. There are now connected and operating 630 water-heaters and 78 ranges, and .the total number of motors installed: .and running is| 1573, of which 1400 .are, 2 h.p. milking motors. In the number of motors connected to the. board’s mains during the month 12 are on already existing lines. . “Poles.—The pole boat is, now loading at Port Stephens and should be at Kopu v within the , next few' weeks. Ample stocks are on hand for present requirements. ■ "Transformers,.—Tenders have been called Tor transformers, and I would like authority .to have same dealt with.”
