A special meeting of ,the Paeroa Borough Council was held bn Friday evening -to consider the decision of the Ohinemuri County Council in connection with the allocation of the cost of the proposed new .traffic bridge at Paeroa. The meeting I ', was held in committee, and it is understood that a further conference df the, two local bodies is to be held at an early .date.

The rainfall for .last month, . a’s| registered at the Paeroa Public Work's Office, was 1.11 inches, making the total for the two months 5.81 inches. Rain fell on ten days during February, the highest fa.U during any one day being .it) of an inch. The records show that tor the corresponding , month last year' the rainfall was 1.59 inches.
The pupils of the Paeroa District High School, held their .annual picnic at the Racecourse on Friday in perfect weather." There were over 509 children .on the course,-and parents and friends attended in large numbers and assisted the teachers and committee to make the day a memorable one for the youngsters. A comprehensive sporte programme was drawn up, and the children entered for .the different events with enthusiasm. Organised games were arranged, together with sundry lollie scrambles, for the little ones. It was a very tired but very happy band, of children that left the course for home about six o’clock that evening.’
