PUBLIC BATTERY.
NEED AT KARANGAHAKE.
MR. A. M. SAMUEL INTERESTED. During the visit of Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P., to Paeroa on Wednesday afternoon the opportunity w'a£ taken ‘to place before him the need for crushing facilities for the tfieat--ment of ore at Karangahake. ■Messrs D. Leach and E. A. Porritt, representing the Paeroa Chamber of Commerce, briefly outlined the requirements of. the miners, at t Karangahake,»and stressed the need for the erection of'a public battery. Mention was' also made of the successful, mining operations .that had been carried out at Karangahake in years .gone by, and all the prospects for future success provided the necessary facilitiesare forthcoming.
Mr Samuel expressed his sympathy with the project, and signified his willingness |o do all he possibly could in the matter.'
Replying to Mr Leach, Mr Samuel said, .that he would be pleased to receive a deputation of sminers and others interested at Karangahake- on Tuesday, March 16. He also intimated that' on his return to Wellington he would place the matter before .the Mines Department, and, if possible, get the. Hon. Minister for Mines to meet the deputation at Karangahake on the date mentioned.
