The miscellaneous section covers, a wide range, and includes many local subjects.

It is understood that the proposal, put forward by the brewery interests of Auckland for the. formation of \ a company to erect and control the hotels in the Ohinemuri electorate, the surplus after providing dividends for shareholders, to be h.anded over to local bodies for public purposes, has been'definitely abandoned. ; .

A further conference of, delegates from the Ohinemuri County Council and the Paeroa Borough Council, is to be'held at Paeroa to-morrow morning to consider the allocation of the cost of the erection of the Criterion bridge over -the Ohinemuri River, at Paeroa.

At the conclusion of the s.peciaj meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council, last night, at which a number of comprehensive' reports were dealt with/on the motion of Cr. E. Edwards it Was, decided to recoßd the hearty appreciation and thanks of the council ,to His, Worship the Mayor (Mr W.Marshall), and to congratulate him on the jsplendid work-ha has carried out in the compilation of valuable records for the municipal files. The, resolu u tion was seconded by Cr. P. E. Brenan a,nd carried unanimously. In return,ing thanks the Mayor intimated that the work entailed in compiling the records, after having obtained the data, had occupied his’close attention for over a fortnight.

During the past year there were 25 petitions hi bankruptcy filed in .the Hamilton bankruptcy district.
