LOST ON THE HILLS.

CHILD STRAYS FROM HOME.

OUT DURING RECENT STORM.

Considerable excitement and anxiety was displayed amongst residents, of Overdale on Friday, when it became known that a little girl, Evelyn Lilley, aged 11 years, had been misusing from home ail the previous night. It appears that .the child had missed her brother, who works for Mr Campbell, a neighbouring farmer, during Thursday, and left for home about six o’clock. As she did not arrive towards dark her parents, Mr and Mrs 1 W. J. Lilley, instituted a search, which proved unavailing. Next morning inquiries around the neighbourhood, and in Putaruru, failed t° discover any trace of the girl, and the local police organised search parties to scour the countryside. These parties, were at work all day, and about four pan. Evelyn was discovered fast asleep in a shed bordering some trees not far from her home.

Though suffering somewhat from exposure to Thursday night’s storm, the little girl, is now none the worse for her untoward experience.—Putaruru Press.
