NGATEA. PERSONAL. Miiss M. J, McKerchar, of Horahia, lias , been appointed teacher at the Ngatea. District High School. MATRICULATION PASSES. Among the scholars who recently qualified for matriculation are Miss S. Taylor, daughter of Mr El Taylor, lands drainage engineer, Kerepeehi, and Master G. Basham, son of Mr F. Basham, Hauraki Plains county engineer. TENNIS. The Ngatea Tennis Club’s chip courts are now completed, and ih all probability will be officially opened on Saturday week. HUIRAU ROAD. ROADWORKS. Regular supplies of metal a,re now coming to hand from the Hauraki Plains County Council’s quarry at Hikutaia, and the bitumen-sealing work on Huirau Road is proceeding steadily. When this is completed the first course metal will be. laid on the Turua-Nethei’ton road from Mr McMillan’s, house to Troughton’s corner, and a,lso on the Kerepeehi-Wharepoa road. TURUA. DAMAGE FROM STORM. During the gale on Friday last the Northern Steam Ship Company’s gangway was blown off the Turua wharf. ROAD WORK. Very slow progress is being made by ,the New Zealand Roads Company with its bitumen road work at Turua, and there seems little chance of tlie contra,ct being completed on time.
