TE AHOIIA DEFEATS PAEROA.

RESULTS OF SATURDAY’S GAMES.

Qn Saturday afternoon an enjoyalfle inter-club game was played on the local links between eight rinks from Te Aroha and members, of the local club. The afternoon was fine, though a tricky wind was blowing. The green, although in surprisingly good playing condition after the storm on Friday, was a trifle on the heavy side, and made drawing shots rather difficult of execution.

An interesting contest resulted in the visitors winning by the narrow’ margin of eight points. At the conclusion of the games the president (Mr E. Edwards) welcomed the visitors on behalf of the local club, and congratulated them on the success ati tained.

Mr S. Scllans’ responded on behalf of the Te Aroha club, and in acknowledging the congratulations accorded his d'ub he thanked the local bowlers for the generous hospitality and welcome given them. Following are the details of the play, Paeroa players being mentioned first in each Instance :—

On Saturday night four foundation members of the bowling club, namely, C. Olson, W. Forrest, J. W. Ellis, and W. Hamilton (skip), challenged the Public Works team to a game of 21 heads, for the night challenge buttons. The Public Works team, comprising McDonald, Wilkinson, Marsh, and Power (skip), won .the buttons from the School Committee team about a fortnight ago, and since has had little difficulty in accepting challengers and defeating tw’o railway . teams. How’ever, on Saturday night the team had to lower its colours, apd accept defeat at the hands of the veterans, who won by 24 points to 18.. The game was interesing throughout, and there were a number of spectators on the bank to witness' the contest.
