Only one tennis match was played on the Ha.uraki Plains on Saturday last At Turua the Hopai “R” grade te.am was, defeated by 8 Bets, or 87 games, to 5 sets, 70 games. Patctoiiga club could not muster a “B" grade team, so Kerepeehi won by default. TURUA V. HOPAI. Men’s Singles.—D. G. McMillan lost to W. Murphy, 4—9 ; G. Elvjn lo&t to S. Coppins, 3—9 ’, Howarth beat E. Coppins, 9—5 ; J. Devereaux lost to A. R. Vowles, I—9, Ladies’ Singles.—Mis’ Clotworthy beat Mrs. Speedy, 7—4 ; Mrs Scott beat Miss Costello, 7—3. Combined Doubles. —C. Scott and Miss E. Clotworthy beat D- Murphy and Mrs Motion, 7 —4 ;F. Bell and Mrs McMillan beat Birkenhead and Miss Wade, 7—l. Men’s Doubles.—McMillan and Howarth lost to Murphy and S. Coppins, B—98 —9 ; Devereaux and Elvin beat Coppins and Vowles. 9 —4 ; Scott and Bell lost to Birkenhead and Murphy, 5—9. Ladies Doubles.—Mrs. Clotworthy and Mrs. Scott beat Mrs. Speedy and Miss Costello, 7—3; Mrs McMillan and Miss Clotworthy beat Mrs. Motion and Miss Wade, 7 —l.
