A number of people from Paeroa and district returned this morning after attending the Thames races, which were held at Takapuna oil Thursday and Saturday.

In response to. a request for volunteers for a transfusion of blood to ii patient in the Hawera Hospital three men and a woman offered their help (states tire Hawera Star)! After a medical test had been made one of the men was chosen. Although the operation was quite a. success the Patient died the following day, as, the aid came too late to saye her life.

The ceremony, which was performed by the Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. R. F. Boli lard), was attended by a representative gathering of the people of Taranaki.
