An Ashburton taxi-driver told " a reporter that during the morning he had-used his car to carry no fewer than 40 gallons of good ale and similar lubricants to various addresses, in town. If the other dozen or so taxi-men have handled the same & amount of business, Ashburton should have a really Merry Christmas—if not ■ a -Happy New' Year. —Giiardain.
