NORWAY'S FIORDS.
A SUGGESTION FOR NEW’ ZEALAND Mr H. Baldwin, formerly Mayor of .‘Lower Hut't, who has just returned from a visit to England and the Continent, had the pleasure of making a - fortnight’s trip to .the fiords of Norway, which he declared to be one «,of the finest excursions, of the kind possible. It suggested tlie possibility of a resumption of such excursions to fthe fiords of the West Coast of the South Island, where at one time the Union Company ran special steamers, ami'at another, in summer, uSed to allow the Melbourne-Bluff steamers to call, into Milford Sound. Mr Baldwin states that for ten out of the thirteen days of his Norwegian trip the steamer moved on the placid waters of the ■ fiords, and as the scenery was magnificent, and the service and meals first rrfte, the experience was, a thoroughly delightful one. Fares j-anged from £2o’ upwards, according to the class of berth occupied. Many steamers were engaged in the trade, one being the Orient liner Ormonde, which was crowded wi.th passengers.
