TO-NIGHT.
THE LOST WORLD. “Love in a hovel" is literally true in "The Lost World," to be shown tonight. That tlie hovel or primeval cave is believed to be tlie habitat of tlie Missing Link, and that he may pounce upon them any minute, does net dampen Llp>yd Hughes’ ardour Hughey plays, the part of a reporter who accompanies the explorers in search of adventure. He finds plenty of it, but more ,to his liking, he finds l<r e in a hovel. Tlie romance is especially enhanced by the fact that it is Bossie Love whom he finds.. The scenes, of the two youngsters succumbing to love’s allure ovenshadows even tlie adventure of seeking the dinosaurs of the isolated Amazon forests.
NEW YEAR'S EVE.
THE GREAT DIAMOND MYSTERY.
The disappearance of a large diamond from the necklace of a wealthy woman, and the substitution of a piece of worthless “paste,” so-called, in its place, causes -the arrest of a young jeweller's clerk in “The Great Diamond Mystery.” the new Shirley Mason picture, which is to be screenel to-morrow nigfit. Trouble does not end there, however, for within, a few hours after the precious gem is lost the head of the diamond firm is, killed ---and/tlie young clerk is accused of the murder. It happens that this same young clerk is engaged to marry a young lady novelist, the part played by Mists Mason, who has juat completed a murder mystery story basedon the supposition that a. murderer inevitably returns to the scene of- his crime. William Collier, junr, is seen as the diamond clerk.
NEW YEAR’S NIGHT.
THE NIGHT CLUB
“The Night Club,” which is the, star picture for New Year’s, night, features Raymond Griffith, the funny fellow with tlie high hat;.Vera Reynolds Wallace Beery, and Louise Fazenda. The story deafe with a young fellow who inherits a million’ dollars from his uncle but lias to marry a certain girl to collect it. He has, just gone through .the unpleasant experience of having “the only girl in the world” walk out of the church on him for another fellow, and his feelings towards women in general are not what they might be, so he passes up the legacy, but when he sees the girl in the case it’s a different story entirely. SATURDAY NIGHT. e THE MAN LIFE PASSED BY. The principal attraction to be screened on Saturday flight is the Metro Special picture “The Man Life Passed By.” Percy Marmont, Jane and Eva Novitk, and Hobart Bosworth have the principal roles. The theme is based on the travels, of a man when he loses love and all hope in life and goes sheer down to the bottomless pit of the down-and-outers. Percy Marmont has neyer been finer in his part, and he had a bunch of favourites with him.
