NEW TRAFFIC BRIDGE.

OHINEMURI RIVER STRUCTURE.

COUNTY AND BOROUGH CONFER.

Representatives of .the Ohinemuri County Council and the Paeroa Borough Council met in conference on Monday morning to consider the plans and estimates submitted by the Public Works, Department for the erection of a new traffic bridge over the Ohinemuri River at Paeroa. The chief matter for consideration was the apportionment of the cost of the bridge on the lines suggested by the Public Works Department.

The decision arrived at as the outcome of the discussion was that the two local bodies would co-operate with the department, but were of the opinion that) the erection of a new structure had been rendered necessary primarily through the. W.aihou and Ohinemur i Rivers Improvement Scheme, and that being the petition the Government should bear the full cost of the construction of a new bridge. It was resolved that His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Marshall) and the chairman of the Ohinemuri County Council (Mr W. F. Johnstone) should proceed to Wellington early in the New Year for the purpose of discussing the matter with the Hon. Minister for Public Works and the department.
