NGATEA.
LIBRARY MATTERS. A meeting of the members of the Ngatea Public Library was held on Saturday evening, Mr W. McDuff presiding. The chairman pointed put Miat Mr Waiton had purchased the site on which the library stood, and it would be necessary to shift the building. The building had been purchased by the settlers for a post office and, had been handed over for use as a library. Mr Walton said .that he was not concerned with the building. He proposed erecting an office on the site, and offered to provide a room for the books free of charge. The offer was, characterised as a very generous one, and it was accepted. - It was decided to endeavour to sell the present library building for £2(l, tlie matter being 'eft in the hands of the chairman. VALEDICTORY. A pleasing function took place in the Ngatea Hall on Thursday evening, when members of -the Tennis Club and friends’ of Mi; and Mrs' J. N. Anderson, assistant county engineer, arid president of the tennis- club, assembled to bid .them farewell. The function took the form of a dance, and during the supper interval Mr and Mrs Andersen were presented with a silver tea service by Mr J. Neate on behalf of the club and residents of Ngatea. Mr Anderson has been appointed assistant engineer to the Franklin County, and will leave Ngatea just before Christmas, ,
