OBITUARY.

MRS. MARY BREESE WILSON. The death occurred, at her late residence, Corbett Street, Paeroa, yesterday .afternoon of Mrs Mary Breese Wilson, at the age of 7'5 ■years. Deceased, who was the second, daughter of the Rev. Samuel Breese, was born hi North iWales, England, and arrived in New Zealand with her father, brother, and two sisters in 1863 by the sailing vessel Queen of the Me toe:/. The first landing in New Zealand was at a site in Auckland in the vicinity of where Shortfond Street, is to-day. After living in tents and rudely constructed huts, for some time, the family removed to Three Creeks, near Warkwor.th, where farming pursuits were followed. Owing to failing health the father returned to England, and’ in due course the deceased returned to Auckland and later, with her sister, opened a drapery business at Thames. In 1880 the deceased married Mr James G. Wilson, who .vas a well-known mine manager at Thames, and later at Waihi. Some. 21 years, ago the late Mrs Wilson removed from’Thames to Paeroa, where she opened a-drapery business hi Belmont Road, and she has 1 carried on, with the assistance of her daughter, to the present time. Deceased lived through the arduous and stirring times of the Maori War, and with her sisters shared the trials and privations endured by the early settlers in those days. Although deceased had been in failing health recently, she had taken a keen interest, in the welfare and progress of Paeroa, aifid was a staunch adherent of the Church of England. Five daughters are left to mourn their loss, namely, Mesdames T. H. Bo.n l and R.’ Corringham 1 , and Miss. G. Wilson,’- of Auckland; Mrs W. Sillick, Huntly, and Miss E. F. WiTsoin, Paeroa. To them the deep sympathy of a wide circle of friends is extended.
