BOY SCOUTS.
PROGRESS OF PAEROA TROOP. ATHLETIC SPORTS TO BE HELD. ■A meeting of those interested in the Boy Scout movement in .Paeroa was held in the Soldiers’ Club on Monday evening. Mr J. W. Silcock- presided over an attendance of On the motion of the scoutmaster (Mr D. A. Vincent) it was decided to organise a sports meeting, to,be held at the Domain on December J. 9, the • proceeds ..to. be devoted towards the expenses of the-proposed scouts’ encampment during Christmas. It was decided to thank the Hautraki A. and P. Association for the use of i.ts fencing material, and hurdles in the domain. It was resolved that those present form a committee to organise the, sports gathering and generally further the interests of the scoutis, and also that Messrs J. D. ‘Crawford and J. M. Crosby act as joint secretaries.
On the motion of Mr T. H. Hale it was resolved to present a special trophy to .the scout winning the greatest number of points at the gathering ; the points to count 3,2, and 1. In the event of a tie, the value of the trophy to be divided.
Messrs T. Welch, T. H. Hale, R. L. Miller, and A. Bridge were appbinted to canvass for trophies.
Messrs; Crosby, and Hale offered to donate trophies for the 120yds open, 220yds open ,and aggregate points events respectively.
The matter of arranging for the attendance of a band or an orchestra, a refreshment booth, and advertising was left in the hands of various subcommittees.
