The first match to be played for the Howell Williams Memorial, Shield is Hikutaia v. Hopai, on Saturday 'next. TURUA. GRAND CONCERT. The gods decreed that the 19th should be a briyht and starry night, thereby inducing crowds’ from all the surrounding district to attend the grand concert in the Turua Publie Hall. Vehicles of all descriptions lined the road outside the hall, and many and varied were the people within; many of them considering themselves fortunate in obtaining even standing room. The affair, which was in aid of the Catholic Church fund, benefited to the extent of about £2o'. The programme, which was a generous one, commenced with an item by the Whaiheke Orchestra, items following by Miss Hayward, Mr McLvride, Miss. Tiapani, Miss Roland, Miss Grub’b, and Messrs Railey and Scrimegour. The concert concluded with .an effective and colourful Chinese drama acted by the whole company.
