NEW POST OFFICE.

STEADY PROGRESS MAINTAINED. EXTERIOR NEARING COMPLETION. The contractors (Messrs Robinson and Beagley) are making steady progress on the erection of Paerqa’s new post office, and the building is rapidly assuming shape, the handsome ovUline of the structure being now clearly discernible. The brick-work is now practically completed, and the concrete facings are well under way. The roof is being proceeded, with this week, and provided the weather holds fair it will be completed within the next few days. A small, army of plasterers are engaged on their special work, both inside the building and outside. The iron-framed windows are all in position, and the work of concreting round is t proceeding apace. Oh Wednesday the iron framing surrounding the balcony, which is supported on large ferro-concrete pillars, above the main entrance to the office, was placed, in position. Interioriiy much yet remains to bel done. Here, too, the plasterers are busy at work, and by the end of his week the lower storey of the building will have been roughed out. With the completion, of the roof in New Zealand-made tiles similar work will take place on the second storey, which will form the postmaster’s residence. The' board fence surrounding the motor garage and linesmen’s st6re yard is practically finished. The fence surrounding the main building will be commenced on Monday. This fence is to be erected in brick with a hardwood trellis, .the whole giving a very pleasing appearance to the building. , ■

Joinery for the post office is now coming to hand, and this is to be affixed in permanent position as soon as the plasterers complete their 1 work. Many favourable comments have have been passed In connetcion with the fine, up-to-date appearance of'the office, and the solidity of the structure has been remarked on by many.
