ELECTORAL MATTERS.
SCRUTINY OF ROLLS. ABSENT VOTES NOT YET COUNTED The scrutiny of the electoral rolls for the Ohinemuri electorate commenced at the Courthouse, Paeroa, yesterday afternoon, and is being continued to-day. The official count of the election votes, will be commenced on Monday. This should be completed before evening. The official count of the licensing votes will be commenced immediately after the completion of the election count, and it is anticipated that the task should be completed before the end of the week. It is pointed put that the official count cannot be tarried out until all .the voting papers have been received from the various polling places- in the electorate. In conversation with the returning officer, Mr P. H. Wylde, this morning, it was learned that so far as .the absent votes are concerned, these are not permitted to be opened until the time of the official count. There a,re approximately 427 absent votes in this electorate to date.
