HORAHIA DRAINAGE.
ELECTION OF TRUSTEES. THE CENTRAL AREA. The election'of trustees of the central area 1 of the Horahia Drainage District was held on Monday Last, .the ■■■voting being asfollows:— F. A. Kneebone, 52 ; W. McDuff, 45; H. H. Hicks, 34 ; J. McKerchar, 14. • . As only two candidates were required, Messrs. Kneebone and McDufi were declared elected. These gentlemen were members of. “he. previous board, as also Mr McKercher, who, however, had not been able to give much time to the board’s business, on account of his illness. An election was not necessary in the northern area as there Were only , three vacancies, and Messrs. J. C. Miller, W. E. Hale, S. S. Murray were' the only candidates nominated. •Mr Murray was not a member of the previous board. No formal nominations were receiv- / ed for the southern area as owing to the postal holiday oil Labour Day the nominations of the two previous represenatives, Messrs. J. M. Thompson and R. L. Davies, were delayed. These . gentlemen will probably .be appointed members of the board for the southern area by proclamation of _the Gov-ernor-General-in-Council.
