CLOTHIER SHIELD TOURNAMENT. MONDAY'S PLAY AT TE AROHA. The Clothier Shield and Goldfields Stars tournament was’ advanced to the semi-final stage at Te Aroha on Monday, Ideal boyrling weather prevailed throughout the day, and the warm sunshine of Sunday improved the greens, which on Monday played • particularly well. Unfortunately the Waihi rinks did not take, part in the tournament, and as a consequence it was‘necessary for one rink in each section to stand down in each round. At the commencement of the semifinals Branch , with one loss and Gallagher and Peterson with no losses were the only players left in the tournament. The best game of the tournament was witnessed when Gallagher defeated Branch by one point, the scores being Gallagher 13, Branch 12. As the scores indicate, the contest was a close one, and sparkling bowls was played throughout the game. Gallagher and his team were the recipients of hearty congratulations) on their victory. Owing to the lateness of the hour it was not possible to play the final game bn Monday. This will be played on Saturday next between Peterson, and Gallagher, a real good contest being anticipated. On account of the Te Aroha Trotting Club’s annual meeting on Saturday play , is to commence at 9 a.m. . • Following are the details of Monday’s play:— Section A.—Third round: Garland (Matamata) 11, v. Adamson (Thames) 8; Fourth round: Peterson (Te Aroha) 18, v. Moncrief (Morrinsville) 5; Heathcote (Te Arolia) 18,. v. Garland (Matamata) 9 ; Hayward (Paeroa) 14, v. Adamson (Thames) 13 ; W. H. Taylor (Paeroa), x a bye; Fifth round : Peterson 12, v. Adamson 11; Moncrief 14; v. Heathcote 8; Garland 13, v. Taylor 7; Hayward a bye. Sixth round: Peterson 15, v. Garland 9; Adamson 17, v.
