CLOTHIER SHIELD TOURNEY. local teams selected. As has been the» practice for many years past, the Clothier Shield and Goldfields Stars tournament will commence to-morrow arid conclude on Monday. The tournament this year is ,to be held at Te Aroha. The following three rinks have been selected to-represent the Paeroa club : —. Mettam, Gibb, G. H. Taylor* W. H. Taylor (skip) ; McCullay, Forrest, Power, Purdie/(skip) ; Blackbume, Hale, Ell.is, Hayward (skip). In accordance with the rules governing the tournament Paeroa, as the present holders of the shield, are entitled to enter three rinks. Players are- requested to travel to Te Aroha 'Ey .train to-morrow. The opinion has been expressed that the have done justice to their task, and the players chosen should give a good account of themselves at the tournament. -, v HIKUTAIA CLUB’S OPENING. To-morrow afternoon the official opening fo the Hikutaia Club is to take place, and, weather permitting, it is expected that a large number of k local bowlers will take part in the function. The hospitality of .the Hikutaia Club has won renown in the dis- _ . trict, and: it is repor.ted'-that, again this • year arrangements have been completed for the catering of a large number pf visitor# to-morrow.
