SUMMER RECREATION.

OPENING OF SEASON. CRICKET AND TENNIS ON PLAINS. Although there has so far .been very .little summeiy weather the date of the opening of the summer pastimes for the season has arrived and is being joyously welcomed. The Turua Tennis Club held its official, opening for the season on Saturday, there being present a great number of tennis enthusiasts from sister clubs on the Plains. In the unavoidable absence of the president, Mr A. H. Rogers, the courts were declared open by Mr J. Mules.” _ >? On Saturday next the Hikutaia Club’s courts will be opened; on the 31st inst. the Waitakaruiu Club, and on November 14’ the Hopai will hold their opening days. The Kopuarahi Cricket'Club opened its season on Saturday.by playing a friendly match with the Tararu Club, Thames, at Kopuarahi. Only one innings was played and the visitors won by three runs.
