THAMES HOSPITAL.
BEPOBTS FOR THE MONTH.
The following reports were received by the ; Thames Hospital Board at its meeting on Monday ■ The resident 'surgeon, Dr. J. Ritchie, reported that 33 males and 3S females had been admitted, 2 males had died, and 34 males and 39 females had been discharges, leaving 23 males and 31 females in the institution. Operations totalled 45 for the month, o F which 27' had been mjer. In order to prevent neglect of ti e patients it was imperative to appoint two staff nurses and two probatio'-mis-The matron, Miss Ansenne, reported at length on staff matters, Sne suggested employing two staff nursos to fill vacancies. Miss Bagley had inspected the Maternity Annex on September 3, 1925, and Dr. Paget had inspected it on October 1, 1925. The heard approved, of the appointment of the two staff nurses, and left the matter to the matron for action. The superintendent, Tararu Homes, reported that one man had been admitted, and one man and one wfiman had been discharged, leaving 18 men and 4 women in the Homes. Conduct was very good. The weather had been against work on tie farm. Eight pigs had been cured, and six pigs had been sold. Several batches of chickens had In’en hatched, and 120 dozen eggs preserved. On behalf of the visiting committee Mr Berney reported that everything was looking well. One cow' should be dried off and sold for beef, and many of the fences should be improved.
The chairman reported that fence (posts were being obtained, and the appearance of the whole place improved. The matron was granted annual leave.
The Nunse for Natives, Miss Jarret, reported that during August she had visited 35 Europeans and 39 Maoris, and during September, 6 Europeans, and 16 Maoris. Durig the period she had visited 34 Maori Pas, and had made 384 trips. Measles, Chickeiipox, and bronchial influenza had been prevalent. ' The Patetonga District Nurse reported having visited 14 different patients, making 32' visits.’ Fees collected amounted to £3 16s 6d.
