DISTRICT NEWS.
KOPUARAIIL CRICKET CLUB. The Kopu.arahi Cricket Club held its annual meeting in the Shocol on Wednseday last, there being a good attendance of members. Great enthusiasm was shown, and the prospects of the coming season were considered to be very bright. Many new members were enrolled, including some old cricketers. Officers appointed for the year were as follows: — President, Mr D. J. O’Carrollsecretary, Mr J. G. Miller; captain, Mr Russell Green; vice-captain, Mr N. Death ; selector, Mr J. G. Miller; Umpire, Mr D. J. O’Carroll,; scorer, Mr
M. Miller; delegates to association, Messrs J. G. Miller and T. McKay. The season will be opened on Saturday, October 17. The club will enter one team for the inter-club competitions.
It was suggested that a junior team be formed to foster the game among the boys of the district, and it was decided to introduce the matter at the meeting of the Hauraki Plains Cricket Association.
