MUCH LIGHT RAIN.

LOW YEARLY, AVERAGE TO DATE.

During September rain fell on the Plains on 22 days, though the total of 3.84 inches was only one point above the average September fall for the last 14 years as recorded at the Lands Office, Kerepeehi. The heaviest fall was for the 24 hours ending at 8 a.m. on the 14th. The only fine days during the month were the Ist, 4th 10th 16th, 22nd, 28th. and 29th. The total rain for the year to 1 date is 29.18 inches, compared with 45.90 inchesl .and 37.91 inches for,the corresponding period of the two preceding years and the ■average for the same periods of the past ten years of 33.66 inches.
