PAEROA’S PORT.

BUSY MONTH. AT NGAHINA. LARGE CARGO TRANSHIPMENTS. Last month was an exceptionally busy one .at the Ngahina wharf, Paeroa, and the amount of cargo handled exceeded that of the corresponding month of last year. A large quantity of cargo wais brought to ,the Puke, and ther ( e transhipped and towed in barges up the Waihou River to Te Arolia, from which point it has been distributed .all over the district. Included in the transhipments to Te Arolia were 200 ; tons of bitumen, and heavy cargoes of guano and other artificial manures. In addition to the regular tri-week-ly runs of the Taniwha between Paeroad and Auckland five extr.a trips of other vessels carrying cargo, only were made. On Tuesday the auxiliary scow Torere arrived at the Puke from Auckland with a full, load of manure, benzine, and general, cargo. It is worthy of note that the steamer Waiotahi made .two trips to Ngahina during the month. This steamer is the largest vessel that has navigated the Waihou River to date. Little difficulty was experienced in berthing her, and there wajs an ample depth of water at the wharf.
