CORRESPONDENCE.
PROHIBITION; LTo the Editor.! Sir,—Not being resident in Paeroa, I was unable to be present at the Rev. F. E. Harry’s lecture, so I am dependend upon the report contained in your issue of September 30. When he says that the Alliance does not seek legislation to achieve its object he is stating something which is contrary to fact. He is seeking a majority vote to coerce a, minority to give up habits of diet of which he does not approve. Not only this he is, in my opinion, contravensing the higher. Christian ethic which declines, to avail itself of force to accomplish reform. If the Prohibition vote is carried it is more than likely that it will intensify the amount of drinking that at present takes place openly. ' OLD HARRY.
