DAIRY COMPANY.
CARTAGE OVER PLAINS ROADS. PROTEST FROM TURUA. A strong protest against the action of the N.Z. Co-operative Dairy Company in having the coal for its Plains factories carted by road from Paeroa, was made at the Turua- Ratepayers’ Association meeting on Monday evening. It was pointed out that while the company was saving £1 per ton by this means of transport against water carriage, the cost of maintenance of the roads thereby damaged, was very much greater. The cartage of suppl, icts for the Dairy Company’s factories had ruined the Wharepoa. and the Hikutaia ferry roads, as well as the main road from Paeroa. It Was decided to protest to the company. ,
