DISTRICT NEWS.

NGATEA. ■ A MANX EVENING. The people of Ngatea were treated to a Manx concert by the Rev. A. M. Costain, a native of the Isle of Man, in the Public Hall on Wednesday evening at a function organised to raise funds with which to procure material for the bazaar in aid of the Methodist Church that will be held next month.

The entertainment was novel and very interesting. It opened with the Manx National Alnthem, sung in the Manx language and in English, and there followed many Manx songs dealing with historical events and national characteristics, interspersed with explanations and stories of the Isle and its people. The Rev. Costain proved a versatile entertainer, and w'as ably assisted by Miss McCullay, of Paeroa, whose singing is always pleasing.

Although there were only the two vocalists the evening passed all too quickly, and Ngatea people will look forward to a return visit and hope it will not be far off.
